Santa Barbara, CA—The Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District (APCD) and the Santa Barbara Car Free Project announced the 2007 Car Free Experience Discount Package valid now through December 31, 2007, featuring savings up to 50% at 20 hotels, 6 restaurants and 15 activity and transportation alternatives. Visitors are encouraged to come car free via plane, bike, boat, bus or train and enjoy discounts. “Take a vacation from your car! You’ll enjoy it, and you’ll help our air, and our Earth,“ says Mary Byrd, Santa Barbara Car Free Project Manager with the APCD, lead agency for this award-winning eco-tourism cooperative partnership. The Project encourages car free travel to and around Santa Barbara for cleaner air. Vehicles are a major source of smog-forming pollution, and of greenhouse gases contributing to global climate change.

Visitors arriving by airplane at Los Angeles (LAX) receive 2-for-1 coupon for round-trip motor coach transfers via Santa Barbara Airbus when registering in advance at www.SantaBarbaraCarFree.org. On Roadrunner Shuttle, the second passenger rides free from LAX or Burbank (BUR) airports, or receives a 15% discount from Santa Barbara Airport (SBA) when mentioning SB Car Free. Visitors receive 20% discount off cab fares to/from SBA and all around town from Lucky Cab (with a hybrid Toyota Prius fleet), when mentioning Car Free.
