Exemptions (Rule 202), and Definitions (Rule 102)

Thursday, December 8, 2005 at 10:00 a.m.
Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District
Wisteria Conference Room
260 N. San Antonio Road, Suite A
Santa Barbara, CA

You are invited to attend this workshop to obtain information on the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District’s (APCD’s) proposed revisions to Rules 102, 202, and 333. The revisions involve engine definitions, engine and other equipment permitting and exemption thresholds, and engine operating requirements and emission limits.

Sources Potentially Affected
Oil and gas exploration, production, processing and marketing sources (primarily), and other activities using an engine rated greater than 50 brake horsepower to provide primary power. Emergency standby engine requirements will not be affected by the proposed rule revisions.

About the Proposed Rule Revisions
This effort addresses all deficiencies that were identified by the California Air Resources Board and by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regarding permitting and control of internal combustion engines. The APCD’s 2001 and 2004 Clean Air Plans include commitments to make these revisions. The revisions will also incorporate requested revisions to permit exemptions and other changes to clarify the rules.

A Background Paper on the proposed rule revisions and the draft proposed revised rules are available on this website on this page.
