“Kids Care for Clean Air” Calendar Contest Announced
Great Prizes for Pictures Showing Fun and Imaginative Ways
to Get Around without Creating Traffic and Air Pollution
SANTA BARBARA, CA -- Santa Barbara
County Air Pollution Control District (APCD) and SBCAG Traffic Solutions today
announced the opening of the fifth annual “Kids Care for Clean Air” 2005
calendar contest. Santa Barbara County kids between the ages of 5 and 12 years
are encouraged to enter the contest for the chance to win great prizes and to
help spread the word about the importance of clean air.
Kids are encouraged to use
their imaginations to create bright-colored pictures of different ways to get
around without creating air pollution and traffic. They can also enter artwork
showing why air pollution is bad, and why we need to keep our air clean.
Winning pictures will be
selected to represent a wide range of ideas, and a range of ages and areas of
the county. Twelve pictures will be chosen to accompany each month, with a
thirteenth winner selected to be the cover of the calendar. Entries will be
accepted that are postmarked on or before June 25, 2004. The agencies are
inviting submissions through county schools and after-school programs.
Each of the twelve winners
will receive a $50 savings bond and 25 calendars. The grand prize winner will
receive a $100 savings bond, 50 calendars, and a new bicycle. The savings bonds
have been donated by Santa Barbara Bank & Trust.
The calendars will be
distributed in December by the APCD and SBCAG Traffic Solutions.
