Notice of Public Review and Comment Opportunity

RE: Increase in Gasoline Throughput for 250 N. Turnpike Avenue (Fuel Depot)

See this notice in Spanish (PDF) by clicking here

Turnpike Fuel Partners has applied to the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District (APCD) for a permit to increase gasoline throughput from 2,050,000 gallons per year to 4,399,999 gallons per year at 250 N. Turnpike Avenue in Santa Barbara, the site of the Fuel Depot gasoline station.. Before our agency issues this permit, state law requires that we notify you, since you are either the parent/guardian of a student attending San Marcos High School or are a resident or business located within 1,000 feet of the site.

As part of the APCD’s evaluation of this proposed increase, we have used a state-approved computer model to assess the potential health risk created by the project’s emissions. Our modeling analysis, which is conservatively health protective, shows that the expected emissions from this installation will be below any levels that would create a significant air toxic risk to public health and the environment. We are providing you an opportunity to review and comment on this proposed permitting action. Further, prior to issuing the final permit, we will submit to the permit’s administrative file our written responses to any comments we receive during the comment period.

A copy of the draft permit document (Authority to Construct/Permit to Operate 11897) is available for review at the following locations: APCD offices (260 North San Antonio Rd, Suite A, Santa Barbara); Santa Barbara Public Library: Santa Barbara Branch (40 E. Anapamu, Santa Barbara); Santa Barbara Public Library: and Goleta Branch (500 N. Fairview Avenue, Goleta).

You may also download the draft permit (PDF file) by clicking here.

Please provide any comments to us within 30 days of the receipt of this notice at the address below (Attn: Robin Cobbs, 961-8824).

Sincerely,

Peter Cantle, Manager Engineering & Compliance Division
